BREMBO HAS REVOLUTIONISED BRAKES FOR THE 24 HOURS OF LE MANS

Always raising the bar on the lightness, advances and performance of braking systems.

Brembo boasts a total of 24 undisputed victories out of the last 27 editions of the most prestigious endurance competition in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The unstoppable evolution of cars has also imposed the continuous advancement of braking systems: currently, aside from providing the best braking performance, brakes are essential when addressing acceleration and taking the curves, while paying attention to both reliability and durability.

What are the main innovations implemented by Brembo for LMP1 braking systems?

Firstly, discs have increased durability, thanks to the carbon friction material which guarantees extremely reduced wear and enhanced thermal conductivity. This ensures optimum warm-up, a wide range of use (both in terms of pressure and temperature) and linear friction response. The incredibly low rate of wear allows for unaltered and reproducible performance from the beginning to the end of the race.

The relationship between the weight and stiffness of the brake caliper has been enhanced to provide absolute stiffness while ensuring lightness of the the caliper body without compromising reliability and performance.

Improvements have also been made to the fixture between the cup and the braking surface, going from the use of bushes to "spline" type drive employed in Formula 1.
